Fur families out on the town in ATL

Dear readers,

So many of us work long hours and feel guilty about leaving our adorable fur-babies at home alone. If you are anything like me, it pulls at my heartstrings even more to leave my Ruby at home after hours when I go to book club or other social events.

While attending a local Pet Rescue Olympics event at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, I met Ashley Waldman, founder of Dogs of ATL, LLC. After signing up for her e-mail newsletter, I was delighted to find a host of dog-centric events, also featured on the easy to use and well-designed Dogs of ATL web-site. As I’m working to get the word out about Anima Portraits to pet lovers in the Atlanta metro area, having such a comprehensive and well-researched networking resource at my fingertips is invaluable to me.

Ashley explains why she created Dogs of ATL:

Are you one of those people that doesn’t want to be away from your dog? Dogs of ATL was formed as a result of my husband and I always trying to bring our dog to events or patios and the difficulty that came with it. Today, we do the work for you! You can find all the facts about upcoming dog friendly events and places on our website. To add to the fun, we feature local dogs in our posts! Overall, we want dogs to be able to enjoy time with their humans. Now, you can just grab the leash and have a ball!

Dogs of ATL provides local dog and pet lovers with attractively illustrated reviews of local dogs strutting their stuff at area restaurants and pubs, breweries (who knew!), parks and trails, and local events designed with pets and their owners in mind. Google maps is embedded into the site, making locating venues quick and easy. There is also a field where you can share your own fur-friendly favorites!

Atlanta hosts lots of pet-centered events featuring local businesses such as doggie daycares, boarding services, pet supply retailers, animal rescues, pet cremation services, veterinarians, animal advocates, and even lawyers focused on animal law. Fun activities such as raffles, costume contests, live music, food trucks, and entertainment make these outings ideal for the entire family.

While humans can browse, test products, services, check out adoption and fostering opportunities, participate in contests, and bid on items donated for auction, these events provide  an ideal opportunity for our furry pals to dress up, compete in activities, play and interact and to get lots of free toys, treats, bandannas, and other promotional items!
